Located 13 miles north of downtown Oklahoma City, Edmond is a bustling community located in the heart of central Oklahoma. Known nationwide for our “Art in Public Spaces,” over 200 works of art such as bronzes and paintings are scattered throughout our beautiful city. Edmond has come into its own in terms of employment opportunities. While a great number of residents commute to Oklahoma City and Tinker Air Force Base to work, a growing number are staying in here for their jobs.
Edmond Public Schools
From a one room school house serving 19 students to today’s district that serves more than 20,700 students at 25 schools, Edmond is nationally recognized for its academic excellence and rigor.
Edmond Public Schools encompasses 130 square miles and is the largest full-time employer in Edmond. Quality education is at the heart of the success of this community. All three of Edmond’s high schools were among the 2009 list of America’s Best High Schools by Newsweek. The US Department of Education gave the National Blue Ribbon Award to the Edmond Public Schools nine times since 1992. In 2009 Edmond had the highest Academic Performance Index of all Oklahoma 6A schools. These are just a few of the proud educational achievements of our students and faculty.
University of Central Oklahoma
Situated near downtown Edmond, UCO, founded in 1890 and the oldest institution for higher learning in Oklahoma,has grown into the third largest university in Oklahoma. Today UCO hosts over 16,000 students in six colleges – Arts, Media & Design, Business Administration, Education and Professional Studies, Liberal Arts, Mathematics & Science, and the Joe C. Jackson College of Graduate Studies and Research.

Homestead
Homestead features 273 family homes located in northwest Edmond. There are two ponds to fish in, a pool, and two playgrounds.
